Presence of Iranian gallery in Paris Contemporary Art Fair

It’s the beating heart of the French art market for one weekend every year: a one-stop art shop where visitors can invest in a future masterpiece or bag a bargain from an up-and-coming artist. The 46th edition of the FIAC is showing work from some 200 galleries from 29 different countries, with Iran and Ivory Coast represented among the art dealers at Paris’s Grand Palais for the very first time.

Hormoz Hematian of the Dastan Gallery in Tehran tells us about the counter-cultural paintings and drawings he’s showing at Dastan’s stand, and touches on the challenges of selling art in the current geopolitical context.

And as the African contemporary art market expands, FRANCE 24’s Julien Sauvaget gives us the inside track on the artists and institutions who are driving that success.
